Land Rover medivac
For the most part Help4Ukraine delivers ambulances and medical aid to where it is needed across Ukraine. But not always. Our good friend Nick wanted to deliver a fire truck, so we helped him. On this occasion, however, we were presented with a beaten up old Land Rover as part of a deal to buy other vehicles. The challenge then was what to use the vehicle for, bearing in mind we are a purely humanitarian operation.
We worked with a local community groups supporting others in Ukraine and soon the vehicle was fully repaired, partially refitted, and kitted out for emergency evacuation of wounded. The time taken to get someone from the front line to proper medical care really is the difference between life and death in so many cases. The need to have rugged off-road vehicles with sufficient capacity to carry two stretchers is in high demand.
One thing you will notice is the colour and also the lack of red cross. Ordinarily the rules of war and the need to follow the principles of the Hippocratic Oath would apply. However, as we know from previous experience of vehicles we have provided and as has become apparent this does not seem to apply to the invading party.
Here is the vehcile when we first received it:
