A charity auction of contemporary art took place on the evening of Thursday, 6th April, at the Osborne Studio Gallery in Belgravia. All nine pieces of art for auction had been generously donated to the event by the artists for free.

Proceeds were to be split between Help4Ukraine and the Red Cross.

The gallery’s owner, Geoffrey Hughes, presided as the persuasive auctioneer with an audience of 60 competing connoisseurs. Besides the art, Geoffrey separately auctioned the prospective experience of dining with Lord Sebastian Coe and spending an instructive day with famous sculptor Tristram Lewis.

In a speech, Nicholas Monson explained to the room how Help4ukraine had started out of nowhere four weeks ago. Afterwards, he thanked Geoffrey, the donating artists, the event arrangers and all the bidders, saying sufficient funds had been raised for Help4Ukraine to buy an ambulance, fill it with aid and drive it to the war zone. The room cheered.
