At the end of June we set off again for Ukraine. The smallest convoy to date, with only two ambulances. We had an urgent request – in truth perhaps they are all always urgent – and we felt this would make more sense than waiting for late July when our next big convoy would go.
The mission was to deliver two ambulances to our partners in Lviv. Working with the Cherkasy Regiment of Territorial Defence and with Charitable Foundation Save Kyiv means we have teams on the ground to take the vehicles from Lviv to where they are needed. On this occasion, one went to Bakhmut and one to Kharkiv.
The journey was helped by the Worshipful Company of Carmen who arranged our English Channel crossing. After crossing we were on our way and at Krakow two of the party left for an early and safe return home. The two remaining drivers and vehicles then headed to Lviv. A typical 4+ hours crossing the border was made to feel so much quicker by the continued support of those there. Even 16 months on and ambulances make a welcome sight to those wishing to cross back to Ukraine.
Once across the border a one hour drive to the beautiful and historic city of Lviv and we could hand over the vehicles. A time for a well deserved meal and then meetings with Operation Safe Drop and with Make a Difference. There will be more to come from this developing partnership! Meetings concluded it was time for a rest and on Sunday our return home by bus to Krakow then home by plane and back to work!
Help4Ukraine has now delivered 30 ambulances in total. If you want to help us do more please get in touch.
